Best left side in New York

Richard Justice at AOL Sports writes about The Mets, The Yankees and who has the better left side of the infield :

Let's run through the numbers.

Jeter is having one of his best seasons. He's hitting .348 with a .423 on-base average. He's hitting when it counts, too (.376 with runners in scoring position).Reyes' batting average is 54 points lower than Jeter's. His on-base average is 73 points lower. Yet he's also hitting in the clutch (.313 with runners in scoring position).Defense? Jeter has nine errors, Reyes 10.Power? Reyes has 11 home runs, Jeter nine.RBI? Jeter 68, Reyes 51.

Wright-Rodriguez is also a fairly easy discussion.

Wright is the best hitter on the best team in the National League. He's hitting for average (.308), power (22 home runs) and when it counts (.361 with runners in scoring position).Rodriguez is having a fine season - 22 home runs, 78 RBI - even if his batting average is a pedestrian .277.

Defense is the difference. Wright has 13 errors and may only be average at third, but Rodriguez has been awful. He has made 18 errors, tops among major league third basemen. Many of his errors have come at key times. He also brings some postseason baggage after hitting .133 in the playoffs last season.

Good debate but I would still take Wright and Reyes any day of the week just because of their joy of playing the game. It's not a day at the off ice to them, like it is to the croos town rivals.
