Hernandez for post season rotation?
Orlando Hernandez surrendered three runs and four hits in seven innings Today in a defeat of the Padres.
Four straight quality starts have reduced El Duque's ERA from 5.52 to 4.91. With the NL East essentially locked up, it's not too early for the Mets to be thinking about a postseason rotation. Pedro Martinez and Tom Glavine are unlikely candidates to go on short rest, so the Mets will need two guys from the group of Hernandez, Steve Trachsel, John Maine and maybe even Mike Pelfrey to start games. Hernandez should have the inside track on one of the spots if he's completely healthy. If he's not, the Mets could always try using him much like the White Sox did last October.
