Post-season thoughts...

With Chris Woodward's diminishing batting skills, the promotion of Michael Tucker, Floyd's injury and A-Hern lurking in AAA, the Mets' signing of Edgardo Alfonzo might result in not merely a September call-up but, perhaps, a place on the post-season roster. Alfonzo is a proven fielder, and still has more pop then Woodward does, and he certainly has post-season experience. He's a great link to our past, and another great player in the clubhouse, and he's been hot at bat lately so maybe it's just meant to be...

Here's hoping that we'll get a chance at Preston Wilson. If not, how about a deal with Baltimore for either Jeff Conine or Kevin Millar? Either one would be great in the clubhouse and a good bat off of the bench. Reggie Sanders would also be a decent addition, especially if the Royals pay part of his salary. Most likely, the price would be someone like Victor Diaz, as Brian Bannister would be way too high a price to pay. This is THE most interesting time of the year, save for the winter meetings, if you are a lover of trades and player movement, as we are.
