Should Oliver be given a chance?

Chris Cotter at Mams Mets writes that the Mets should give Perez a shot at the starting rotation:

whave an enormous lead on the Braves, why not try some things? If not give Heilman a chance at starting, which is a worse idea now that we lost Sanchez, let's give Oliver Perez a shot here.

Pelf got slapped around again today, and I think still needs some time to develop as a player in the minors. Perez, who is overshadowed y the fact that he was injured and sucked wind as a Pirate, was a 16 game winner 2 years ago with more than 250 K. He can be a bonafide pitcher if one, he is surrounded by actual players, and two, if he lives up to his wicked potential.
