Standridge Elects Free Agency

Gotham Baseball is reporting that Jason Standridge has opted for free agency instead of accepting an assignment to the minor leagues. Strandridge was DFA on 1/26/06.

RHP JASON STANDRIDGE ELECTS FREE AGENCY

New York announced that righthanded pitcher Jason Standridge, who was designated for assignment on January 26th, has elected free agency. Standridge, 28, was claimed off waivers by the Mets on November 20, 2006. He went 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA in 21 games with the Cincinnati Reds last year. In 18.2 innings, he allowed 17 hits, 14 runs, earned, with 14 walks and 18 strikeouts
