Belliard's waited long enough

With only 6 days until Spring Training begins in MLB, it's surprising to see one name still on the free agent list... Ronnie Belliard.

No matter what they'll tell us (Omar and Willie), the Mets need a second baseman that can produce for them on a consistent basis and without needing to take every third game off. Valentinn did have a great year last season. But what are the odds that he repeats the same productivity. It's not that good. Plus if you look at his playoff stats from last year, you could tell that he was running on the last of his fumes.

Belliard at least deserves a Minor League deal with an invite to Spring Training.

look at the facts:

Belliard
1. Career .272 batting average
2. Career .979 fielding percentage
3. Natural position is Second Base

Valentin
1. Career .243 batting average
2. Career .960 fielding percentage
3. Natural position is nothing (he's all over the place)

So let's cut the nonsense and just sign Belliard. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't oppose to coming over to a home team.
