Omar Minaya has said that extend Paul Lo Duca's now one year contract, at least not before the season starts.

Instead, he may opt to sign him after the season, or let him go to free agency, perhaps to sign Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez, who is a free agent after the season.

...i really hope they resign him, he is a top 3 fave met of mine currently. his style of play and ferocity are unrivaled by most players and he has a great glove. he also is durable and can hit .300, at least...

...should minaya not resign him after the season either, an interesting situation to look at is jarrod saltalamachia and brian mccann, because they are both great young players, and play the same position. however, i believe they're going to convert saltalamachia into a first baseman, hense the trade of adam laroche. however, i think the mets should pursue this young catcher should they not re-sign duke...
