Mets Are Center of All-Star Promo
Kevin Kernan with the NY Post, writes about Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes; David Wright and how they are now the center of the All-Star promotion commercial:
They are the face of the franchise. Not just in New York, but to the nation.
The three stars drove up Interstate 95 to take part in the filming of a commercial campaign for Fox for the 2007 All-Star Game in San Francisco. All three Mets will be featured in the ad that used a cable car as a prop. You don't see many cable cars in Florida.
This does not guarantee that Reyes, Wright and Beltran will be in the All-Star Game this July, but it does guarantee that they are big-time stars. Reyes is 23, Wright's 24, Beltran is all of 29.
To have three position players recognized in such a fashion is a huge benefit to the franchise. To have them be the centerpiece of an All-Star promotion shows how far the Mets have come under Omar Minaya.

You could argue that Jose, David and Carlos are the modern day version of Willie, Mickey and the Duke, except they are all on the same team, the brightest of the bright, all placed in the same New York galaxy.
"We had fun," Reyes said of the late afternoon Monday shoot. "The whole time we were laughing. David, they had him in the front of the train moving his head like a bobblehead. That was real funny, man."
