Piazza the DH?

Ken Davidoff at Newsday, writes about Mike Piazza and how he's adjusting to being a Designated Hitter and not a Catcher:

"I know what I'm here for, but I know it's going to be very difficult for me to put the gear on the shelf and just hit," said Piazza, who will replace Frank Thomas as the A's designated hitter. Thomas, who had 39 HRs last season, signed with Toronto. "I'm an old catcher at heart."

There is no ambiguity here in A's camp. Barring a short-term emergency, the only glove Piazza will wear this season is a batting glove.
