Park scratched
So far the competition for the rotation spots has been anything but exciting. Perez used mostly off-speed stuff and an 85mph fastball which reulted in 4 runs. Sosa was lights out, returning to his form from 2005 for an inning and then looked like 2006 giving up two homeruns. Maybe Sosa is a one inning power-arm reliever. Now John Delcos of Lo Hud Journal is reporting Chan Ho Park has been scratched from his first start due to visa problems.
Chan Ho Park’s first Mets’ start will be in a simulated game. His visa hasn’t been approved yet, and he was scratched from today’s start.
According to GM Omar Minaya, because he doesn’t have the work visa he’s not allowed to pitch in games where an admission is charged. Maybe in five days, Minaya said.
Minaya said the way these things work is that the team—the employer—applies for the visa, and because Park was a late signing things are delayed.
