Hidalgo Signs With Ducks

Bob Herzog at Newsday, writes about, former Met, Richard Hidalgo signing a deal with the Long Island Ducks to join, also former Met, Edgardo Alfonso:

The former Met connection continues for the Ducks. Outfielder Richard Hidalgo was signed yesterday. He'll join infielder Edgardo Alfonzo, signed in February, in what should be a potent lineup for the independent Atlantic League team on Long Island.

But while Alfonzo, 33, was an All-Star performer during his Mets career and part of teams that played in the postseason in 1999 and 2000, Hidalgo, 31, was a major disappointment when he joined the Mets in 2004. He did hit 21 homers, but struck out 76 times in 86 games and batted .228.
