Padilla to have Surgery
Juan Padilla pitched one outing during spring training and showed glimpses of the solid 2005 reliever that he was, prior to an elbow injury which resulted in Tommy John Surgery. But after that outing he reported elbow soreness that he was unable to shake. Padilla was re-examined today and Roto World is reporting he needs further surgery. This is a huge set back for Padilla and the depth of the bullpen.
Juan Padilla will undergo surgery Friday to repair a partial tear of his flexor tendon.
It's the same setback Mike Hampton had in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, though since it's just a partial tear, perhaps there's still a chance he'll help this season.
