Don't Call It A Slump

Ed Ryan at Mets Fever (Shea Nation Network), writes about Carlos Delgado and his slump:

Carlos Delgado has been very defensive about his offensive struggles and has refused to acknowledge that he's slumping.

"What am I gonna do?" Delgado said. "If I'm hitting it good, one of these days I'm gonna catch a break." source Courier News.

Delgado's average is now down to .212 and a SLG. % of .292 with 13 RBIs and 1HR. Delgado may not consider himself in a slump and his manager has always stuck up for his player saying that he's hitting well but just unlucky. But actions speak louder then words and obviously Delgado's lack of production is becoming a concern to the team. For the first time in his Met career Delgado will be hitting fifth in the order. Delgado occasionally hit third last year but has predominantly been the teams steady clean up hitter. A move in the line-up helped spark Wright's bat for several games and maybe it will do the same for Delgado.
