Game Recap:: Cubs 10 -- Mets 1
Hi Shea Nation! My name is Andrew Vazzano and I am a new member of the Shea Nation Network. I write on my own blog over at TheRopolitans.com, but anyway...heres the recap...
Does John Maine really need his hair to pitch??
So tonight was a bit of a disaster, dropping Game 2 to the Cubbies by a score of 10-1. John Maine had a very shaky start, giving up 3 runs, in 5 inning. The bullpen, which was third best in baseball, collapsed tonight, giving up the other 7 runs. Four of those runs came on a grand slam by Aramis Ramirez.
So John Maine couldn't find the strike zone early, giving up 3 runs in the first 2 innings, but settled down nicely to go through the 5th. Maine walked 3 and struck out four batters.
...seriously, he hasn't been as good since he had his head shaved...
Scott Schoeneweis gave up the big blast, and another one after that, giving up 5 earned runs on the night. The Show only laster 2/3 of an inning, giving up 3 hits nad 2 walks. This ballooned his ERA up to 5.62.
...uhoh, Mota looked good last night in AAA...does The Show have a no trade clause??...
Aaron Sele and recently called back up Ambiroix Burgos finished out the game, pitching 3 innings between them. They each gave up an earned run while on the mound. Burgos struck out 3 in 2 innings of work.
Where the heck was the offense?!
Shawn Green was the only offensive production tonight, knocking a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Green went 2-3 on the night.
...I didn't play him tonight! Geez, my fantasy team is tanking!...
Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado, Paul Lo Duca, and Damion Easley were the only other Mets to have a hit against a possible Met for next year, Carlos Zambrano.
Game Ball:: No one...that was awful.
