Gotay And The 40 Man Roster

Ed Ryan at Mets Fever (Shea Nation Network), writes about Ruben Gotayand the confusion of the 40 man roster:

Just for clarification purposes the Mets had been carring 39 players on the 40 man roster. So Gotay's contract was purchased and he was placed on the roster without any further moves being made.

The Fan (660am ) yesterday discussed the selection of Gotay over Ahern and the explanation was that Gotay was playing better than Ahern, to include fielding where Ahern has compiled 8 errors. They further speculated that Ahern may have been taking for granted a call up and wasn't hustling, this could be his wake up call.
