E-Mail Bag: Alou's Extension

I know that Moises Alou has a team option for next season. What I don’t know is if it kicks in automatically, when he gets enough at bats or something. Do you know?

Here’s Alou’s contract:

Signed a deal for the 2007 season worth $8.5M on November 20, 2006. He receives a $7.5M salary in 2007 and the deal includes a team option for 2008 worth $7.5M or a $1M buyout- and 2006 salary: $6M (small portion deferred), 2005: $4M (small portion deferred- + $3.25M signing bonus).

So as I see it Matt, there is just a team option on him. Looking into my crystal ball, I see the Mets buying out of the option and looking to someone else to take up duties in left.
