Minor League Tracker: Jake Gautreau

Danny Wild at MiLB.com, writes about Jake Gautreau and him leading the Zephyrs to a win against the Iowa Cubs:

Gautreau went 6-for-7 with a career-high eight RBIs on Saturday to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs to a 19-4 romp over the Iowa Cubs.

Gautreau had four doubles, scored five times and blasted his third home run of the season in the eighth inning as New Orleans set a franchise record with 23 hits. The only time he failed to reach base was in his final at-bat against Cubs first baseman Mike Mahoney, who got him to hit into a double play.

"It's just one of those days, I felt really comfortable in the box," Gautreau said. "Seemed liked I always had guys in scoring position when I was up there."

Runners were on and Gautreau doubled them home with regularity. After a first-inning single, the 27-year-old second baseman lined four consecutive doubles before capping his night with a home run to center field off Cory Bailey.
