Player Update: Alou, Green and Valentin

David Lennon at Newsday, writes about the status of Moises Alou, Shawn Green and Jose Valentin:

As for Alou, the Mets may get his bat back in the lineup Friday. Alou can DH against the Tigers, and manager Willie Randolph suggested that could be an option.

"That's something we probably can look into," Randolph said. "We want to make sure he's as close to 100 percent as he can be."Alou, 40, had two syringes of fluid drained from his quad muscle Monday and still felt a little sore yesterday, either from the needle or the lingering injury.

Green, who cracked a bone in his foot May 26, is walking without a problem and expects to be cleared to run today. "It feels better and I can walk around with no pain," Green said. "I'm just waiting for the OK."

Jose Valentin, who could return from the DL this weekend, went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in his second rehab game for Class A St. Lucie. Valentin, wearing a brace to stabilize a partially torn ACL, played six innings at second.
