Ambres Called Up Temporarily

Mark Hale at The New York Post writes about Chip Ambres and his temporary promotion:

The Mets temporarily will be without Damion Easley, who was put on the bereavement list yesterday and was replaced by Triple-A outfielder Chip Ambres.

Ambres had solid numbers at Triple-A New Orleans, hitting .272 with 16 homers. The 27-year-old, a former 1998 first-round pick by the Marlins, posted a .241 average in 145 at-bats with the Royals in 2005. He said he has played primarily left field this year but has played all three outfield spots.

"It was totally unexpected," Ambres said of being recalled.
