Game Recap:: Astros 4 -- Mets 0

The Mets just got shut out by a guy named "Wandy"...

Mike Pelfrey pitched one of his better games as a Met, but dropped to 0-7 in 7 starts for the team. Pelfrey was outdueled by Wandy Rodriguez, who only allowed 4 hits and one walk. Wandy pitched his first complete game of his career, while the Astros beat the Mets by a score of 4-0.

All the runs came in one inning, and things could have been different. David Wright missed the tag on Brad Ausmus as he stole third, which would've been the second out of the inning. Pelfrey must've been shaken by this because he then gave up 3 extra base hits in a row, the final one a 2-run home run to Lance Berkman. Pelf's final line was 6 inn., 7 hits, 4 ER, 2 walks, and 5 K's.

...not awful, but there was just no offense to give him confidence...
...he looks like John Maine of last year, as plays in the field visibly shake him, and then he loses control and focus on the game at hand...

Guillermo Mota and Aaron Heilman each pitched hitless innings. Neither allowed a baserunner, and both struck out one batter each.

...good to see these guys pitching well...

Jose Valentin, Carlos Beltran, Damion Easley, and Ramon Castro picked up the 4 hits for the Mets. Valentin also walked in the top of the 9th inning, and Beltran was the only one to knock a double.

...just a dominating performance from Rodriguez...

Jose Reyes was pulled in the bottom of the 8th inning, seemingly for not running out a ball he hit, which was close to going foul. Mike Lamb, instead of tossing it across the mound, pretty much walked the ball to first and lobbed it over, making Reyes look pretty silly.

...he's in a slump. it shows. can this kid get a break? start gotay for a game, and give this kid a rest. he is non stop every game, he needs a break and won't get one this All Star Break...

Game Ball:: Mota and Heilman both looked good.
