Milledge Should Worry About His Style

Anthony Rieber at Newsday writes about Lastings Milledge and his flamboyant style:

"I like to use the word 'colorful,' " Milledge said last night before he went 2-for-4 with a double and run in the Mets' 6-3 win over the Pirates. "I don't often use the word 'flamboyant.' It's kind of like a thing where you've got two TVs. You've got a black and white and you've got a color one. Which one would you choose? Both show the same thing, but one is a little more appealing."

The Pirates were already miffed with Milledge for his exuberant celebrating while rounding the bases on pitcher John Maine's fourth-inning home run (Randolph said he didn't have a problem with Milledge's windmilling antics). Milledge was hit on the elbow in his next plate appearance. He brushed it off and homered in his next at-bat.

Last night, Milledge batted second and doubled in his first at-bat to start a three-run inning. He singled his second time up but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. He was also hit in the hip by a Salomon Torres pitch in the sixth, and Billy Wager hit Nate McLouth with a pitch with two outs in the ninth.
