Player Update: Jose Valentin

Anthony Di Como at Mets.com writes about Jose Valentin and how he injured his finger:

Home in his native Puerto Rico during the All-Star break, second baseman Jose Valentin slammed his hand into a wall during an altercation involving the sale of a local team he owns. Valentin said he didn't purposely punch the wall and didn't take part in a fight, instead bruising his hand against the wall out of frustration.

"It was a little bit of an argument," Valentin said. "Blood got warm, and I just lost my mind a little bit. But thank God there was no fighting."

An MRI on the hand came back negative, and Valentin said he expects to be back in the lineup by the end of the weekend.
