Game Recap:: Mets 4 -- Braves 3

Whew!!! That was tense!!

The Mets pulled one out, scoring in the bottom of the 8th to break up a tie, and then got out of a HUGE jam to win by a score of 4-3.

Orlando Hernandez pitched an absolute amazing 7 innings, only slipping up once, which allowed the 3 runs to score. In the 6th, with 2 outs, he issued a walk and allowed 3 straight hits, but other than that, he was nearly lights out. He allowed 4 hits, 3 ER, walked 2 and struck out 7.

...he has been so, so good as of late...
...i can't ask anymore from him...

Aaron Heilman pitched a scoreless 8th inning, allowing only one hit. Heilman struck out 1 in another solid outing for him.

...keep it up Aaron!...

Billy Wagner gave almost everyone in the building and at home heart attacks when he loaded the bases with none out, but magically got out of it. He got Jeff Francouer to ground out to David Wright, who threw home to get Chipper Jones at the plate. Then he got Andruw Jones to ground to Luis Castillo who started the 4-6-3 double play to end the game.

...whew...thats all i have to say...

Jose Reyes went 2-3 with a walk, scoring the first run of the game after knocking a single, moving to second on an error, going to third on a sacrafice from Castillo and scoring on a David Wright sac fly.

...he is the key to the offense...

Luis Castillo went 2-3, and drove in 2 RBI to tie the game in the bottom of the 7th inning.

...he seems to be fitting in nicely with the team!...

Moises Alou gave the Mets the lead with his only hit, a solo home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to deep left field. It was Alou's first hit at Shea since returning.

...thank you Moises...thank you...

Shawn Green went 4-4 on the night, picking up 3 hits against John Smoltz, who he is batting over .500 against.

...some days he looks great, other days, not so much...
