Game Recap:: Mets 7 -- Padres 6

WHOO HOO HOO HOO HOO!!!!...

Luis Castillo wins the game in the bottom of the 9th inning with a single up the middle to break the recently tied game. The Mets picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Padres by a score of 7-6.

John Maine continued to be his shaky self, lasting 5 and 2/3 of an inning, giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs. Maine was wild, walking 4 and striking out 4 as well.

...ok...i am starting to worry...

Scott Schoeneweis gave up 1 hit and 1 earned run in 1 inning of work. Schoe also struck out 1 batter.

...he's been terrible at home as of late, so i guess its not THAT bad...

Jorge Sosa also gave up 1 earned run as he starts to struggle out of the pen.

...yuh-oh...

Aaron Heilman pitched himself into a jam, but miraculously got out of it on nice pitching and nice defense.
Billy Wagner came into a non save situation, but blew the lead, giving up one run on one hit while striking out 2. Wagner was bailed out in the bottom of the 9th inning by the Mets lineup.

...Steak dinners on Billy...

Before I give you the offensive achievements, let me explain the bottom of the 9th...
Lastings Milledge starts it off with a single. Mike DiFelice sacrafices him over to second on a beautiful bunt up the third base line. Pinch hitter Marlon Anderson singled to center field and Lastings came around to tie the game. Jose Reyes then singles on a soft fly ball to center. First and second for Luis Castillo who promptly singles up the middle to score Anderson from second base!!!

Jose Reyes went 2-5, scoring one run tonight.
Luis Castillo went 1-3 with 2 walks, 2 runs, and 1 RBI.

...Castillo is THE MANNNNNN...

Carlos Beltran had a HUUUUUGE night, going 3-3 with a walk. Beltran knocked in 5 RBI and scored one. He hit a 2 run home run and a 2 run double tonight.

...wow...he is on fire...
