Stolen Bases Up And Triples Down
Over at the Gotham Nation Forum, Not4Nuttin (Scren Name) writes about Jose Reyes and his performance this season:
In the heat of a pennant chase, this is not all that important, but perhaps still worth noting. Several weeks ago, I recall Ricky Henderson remarking that Reyes' triples hurt his SB totals. While he did not come right out and say it (or maybe he did), the clear implication was that Ricky did not try to leg out triples when he could have, which allowed him the opportunity to steal third. Now it may just be a coincidence, but Reyes has not hit many triples lately. I cannot think of any situations where Reyes has stopped at second when he could have tried for a triple over the past several weeks, but then again, I have not been able to watch as many games as I normally do recently. So, has anyone notice if Reyes is stopping at second when he could leg out a triple, or is this just a coincidence?

think its a coincidence...reyes is too agressive on the bases to think about not taking third
as long as he scores who cares
