Game Recap:: Mets 3 -- Astros 1

I thought today was the day...

Tom Glavine went perfect through 5 innings, but gave up a single to start off the 6th inning. The Mets rode the stellar performance from Tommy, winning 3-1 and taking the first two games from the Astros.

Tom Glavine was perfect through 5 innings, and I thought today was the day. He gave up a leadoff hit in the 6th, and then quickly got a double play ball. He finished off the game going 7 strong allowing only 3 hits. Tom didn't walk a batter, and struck out 4. The only run charged against Tommy came from an inherited runner Aaron Heilman allowed to score. Tom faced the minimum until the 7th and retired the first 15 batters to face him.

...wow...
...what an absolutely dominant pitching performance from Tommy...

Aaron Heilman allowed a bloop single to plate the only run for the Astros, and then promptly struck out the side with 2 runners on base.

...great job from Aaron...
...those 3 K's were a thing of beauty...

Billy Wagner bounced back from a long rough patch, getting the side to go down 1-2-3. Billy picked up one stirkeout as he closed out the game and secured his 31st save.

...thank you for not putting runners on before finishing out the game...thank you...haha...

David Wright added to his home run total, knocking his 27th of the season to right field in the bottom of the third inning.

...he goes the other way so well...

Shawn Green came around to score on a Paul Lo Duca double in the 4th inning. Green had doubled in his at bat to reach base, and scored on Paul's only hit today.

...both of these guys are getting hot, not with home runs, but with doubles...
...this is what they both need to do...singles...doubles...and drive in the runs...

Luis Castillo scored the other run for the Mets, scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 5th inning. Luis walked, stole second base, moved to third on a Wright ground out, and put himself in position to score on the passed ball.

...he finds ways to contribute, and i love it!...

Game Ball:: Tom Glavine! Just a super pitching performance!
