Game Recap:: Mets 7 -- Marlins 6

Billy Wagner = Heart Attack Special...

It took 9 Mets pitchers, and 11 innings, but the Mets won again (while Philly lost) by a score of 7-6. Alou kept his streak alive, Delgado went yard again, and Wagner blew a save, so it was a pretty interesting game.

John Maine continued pitching just "decently," going only 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits and 2 walks. Maine did strike out 9 while on the bump. He looked great some innings, and a disaster the next. Story of his season.

...he must do better for the playoffs...
...otherwise...it's in the hands of the shaky bullpen...

Pedro Feliciano, Jorge Sosa, and Guillermo Mota combined to bridge the game through the 7th inning. Felciano and Mota each allowed hits, while Pedro was the only one to strike a batter out.

...so many nice performances, and so many bad ones...

Aaron Heilman has a terrible day, pitching 1 inning, allowing 2 hits and 2 walks, and 2 earned runs to score.

...yack!...

Billy Wagner, who pitched for the first time in days due to back spasms, gave up a game tying home run to Dan Uggla to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th inning. He also struck out 2 batters.

...can't really fault him, he's probably hurting and very rusty...

Joe Smith pitched a great 10th inning, striking out 1 batter.

...the man has returned...

Aaron Sele got the first two outs of the 11th inning, and then handed the ball off to Scott Schoeneweis who finished out the game, getting Jeremy Hermida to ground out to Carlos Delgado.

...a bit unorthodox, but hey, we won!...

David Wright went 2-5, walking once, scoring once, and drove in the winning run in the top of the 11th with a single to center field which plated Jose Reyes.

...mvp?...i think so...

Carlos Beltran, who was removed during the game to rest his knees, and Marlon Anderson, who hit in his place, each picked up a hit and scored a run.

...just stay healthy Beltran...

Moises Alou kept the streak alive, up to 27 games now, going 2-6 with an RBI and a run scored.

...keep it up!!!...

Paul Lo Duca picked up one hit, a two-run blast to deep left field in the top of the fourth inning.

...he's contributing every game...

Carlos Delgado went 2-5, jacking a three-run home run to right center field in the bottom of the 8th to put the Mets up by three. Those runs were clutch, as it Marlins scored three times in the next two innings.

...i missed that big bat...

Game Ball:: Delgado, Alou, and Wright!
