Game Recap:: Mets 8 -- Nationals 4

CELEBRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

That's right. The Mets won a game, 8-4 over the Nationals tonight to take the final game of the series. It ended the 5 game losing streak.

Mike Pelfrey pitched decnently, and did everything he could do to keep the Mets in it. Pelf lasted 5 innings, allowing 9 hits and only 3 earned runs. He walked 3 and struck out 4 while on the bump. He started the 6th inning, but could not record an out.

...thank you for not imploding...

Jorge Sosa pitched 2 innings of shutout relief, coming in for Pelfrey in the 6th inning with 2 runners on base. He got a beautiful double play from Reyes on a ball hit right to second base. Sosa K'd 2 batters in the game.

...this is what i want from him...
...he is so versatile out of the pen...

Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner finished out the game, allowing only one run to score. Wagner allowed it to score, but it was unearned after a David Wright throwing error.

...oh yeah, i remember that guy called "Wagner"...

The offense turned it on big time tonight, smacking 11 hits, and picking up 8 runs.
It all started from the leadoff spot, who seems to be getting back into the swing of things, Jose Reyes went 2-4 and scored 2 runs. Reyes hit the greatest double ever, when he hit a ball deep to left that actually got stuck in the padding of the wall.

...too funny...
...keep hitting Jose...

Luis Castillo hit an RBI triple tonight for his only hit, he also scored twice.
David Wright went 2-4, scoring once, and driving in 3 RBI's. He picked up RBI's number 100, 101, and 102 tonight.

...great production from the top of the order...
...needs to happen more!...

Moises Alou kept the streak alive, going 3-4, driving in one RBI and scoring 2 runs. 23 games!

...he is in the zone...

Paul Lo Duca didn't pick up a hit, but still drove in 2 runs.
Shawn Green came off the bench in a double switch, and started off the 3 run 7th inning. He went 2-2, 7-9 in the series, and scored once.

...Greenie had been the best hitter on this team lately...where are all those doubters now?!...

...this feels good...to win...i forgot how it felt...

Game Ball:: Wright!

Jesus was it ever a big win... I can actually get some sleep last night. Since the streak has started ive been waking up later and in a worse mood each day. Im still nervous but that can now wait until tomorrow.

Oh yeah great the yankees are now only 1 game back in the loss column so tonight could have been better... but lets not get greedy.
