Game Recap:: Nationals 10 -- Mets 9

Well that was an exciting 9th, but all goes for naught...

The Mets scored 6 run in the 9th inning, but fell just short, and lost 10-9 to the Nationals for the second game in the row. Thankfully, the Phillies lost 10-6.

Tom Glavine stunk it up, again. As usual for Mets pitchers lately, he only lasted 5 innings, gave up 9 hits and 4 walks, leading to 6 earned runs for the Nats. Glav gave up 4 in the first inning, on a three-run homerun to Austin Kearns and a solo shot to Tony Batista.

...seriously, what is up with our pitchers?...
...is it The Jackets fault?...

Carlos Muniz made his major league debut tonight, pitching 1.1 innings, giving up only one hit, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. Muniz struck out 1 batter.

...he looked great for his first inning, got trotted out there for a second, and it was downhill from there...

Jorge Sosa allowed 2 hits, and struck out 1.
Aaron Sele gave up 2 earned runs, on 4 hits. I thought these were meaningless runs, since we were down by 6, but they ended up putting the game out of reach in the end.

...what an awful feeling...

The Mets mounted a comeback in the 9th, scoring 6 runs, but fell just short of a miracle.

Jose Reyes was absolutely HUGE for the Mets tonight, going 3-4, scoring twice, and driving in 4 RBI's. Reyes had two homers tonight, a solo-shot to lead off the bottom of the first, and a 3-run liner in the bottom of the 9th inning.

...pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee come out of your slump now...
...we need you more than anything right now...

Luis Castillo went 2-4 tonight, walked once, and scored one run.
David Wright did not look good at the plate, going 1-5, with a single in the 9th inning and scored once. He grounded into two double plays tonight.

...he can't be good all the time, and tonight hurt us pretty bad...

Moises Alou kept it alive, up to 29 games now, going 4-5, scoring once, and driving in 3 RBI's. He doubled in all three runs in the bottom of the 9th inning.

...this man is absolutely raking at the plate...

Paul Lo Duca went 1-3, walked twice, and and scored once.
Shawn Green kept hitting, going 2-3, drving in one, and scoring once.

...Green picked up his 2,000th career hit tonight...CONGRATS SHAWN!...

...not bad...great offense today...pitching fails again...
...Humber tomorrow, should be interesting!...

Game Ball::
Reyes, Alou and Green!
