Pedro Honored

Steve Popper at North Jersey writes about the pre-game ceremony for Pedro Martinez's 3,000 strike outs:

Maybe it's a sign of what he has gone through, but Pedro Martinez seemed happier to be in the clubhouse, covered in sweat after another hard workout than he was in front of a lectern getting honored an hour later.

Martinez was all smiles as the Mets honored him for his 3,000th career strikeout last week in Cincinnati. His mother, sister and brother Ramon were among the dignitaries brought in for the event that included video highlights as well as video messages from two of the other 15 members of the 3,000-K club, Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan.
