Maine Played Through The Pain

Anthony Di Como at Mets.com writes about John Maine confessing to playing with pain in his hip all season:

Maine admitted on Monday to playing most of this season with pain in his left hip.

The Mets' unquestioned ace in the first half, Maine said the problem cropped up in Spring Training and never completely subsided. He recently had an MRI exam on the hip and will see a doctor on Tuesday in Philadelphia. Maine wouldn't rule out offseason surgery, but also said he didn't anticipate the issue affecting his status for next Spring Training.
