The In-house Mets Might Be All We Need

The Mets possible lineup for next year looks like this:

C: Ramon Castro (if re-signed)
1B: Carlos Delgado
2B: Luis Castillo (if re-signed), Ruben Gotay, or Damion Easley
SS: Jose Reyes
3B: David Wright
LF: Moises Alou
RF: Lastings Milledge
CF: Carlos Beltran

Offense:
Seems extremely similar to last year? That's what I was thinking. I'm not totally against this because I don't think that was our problem last year. The only hitting problem with the Mets was their team inconsistency at inconvenient times. If they can pull together and avoid such long slumps, this starting lineup will be towards the top in hitting for the third year in a row. I am one that doesn't believe we need A-Rod, but also agree he will help the hitting team. I just don't know where we would put him, since it has been said Wright is staying put, as I agree with that.

Starting Pitching: (Possible Rotation: Orlando Hernandez, Mike Pelfrey, John Maine, Pedro Martinez, and Oliver Perez)

The problem remains, as I'm sure you all know, the pitching. Our problem is the pitchers we have cannot go a full year. Between Maine and the possible emergence of at least one of either Pelfrey or Humber, and Oliver Perez hopefully returning to his form, that is three quality starters. And who can forget about Pedro and El Duque. They can be quality for a good amount of time at least.

Bullpen: (Possible Bullpen: CL Billy Wagner, Setup Aaron Heilman, Pedro Feliciano , Duaner Sanchez, Juan Padilla, Joe Smith, LR Jorge Sosa) (to get rid of: Mota and Schoeneweis)
The main thing needed to address is the bullpen. I hate to say it, but it seems like Omar is relying on Juan Padilla and Duaner Sanchez to save us but with two straight years of injuries, I don't know if that is smart to do. We lose so many games in bullpen alone. Wagner will be fine, and if those two are great and a possible asset in Joe Smith, the Mets can pull a revamped lineup from in-house!!! I suggest going after Francisco Cordero from the Brewers, even though his price is steep for what would be an 8th inning setup man. The old key phrase was pitching wins championships. Hitting just gets you there.

Mota is on there, but i think they need to do something about him, he is terrible, he doesn't deserve to be in the major leagues and should be sent down. I'd consider eating the money we owe him and releasing him. Castro on the other hand, you are probably correct about the injure. But Torrealba is definitely not the answer. The guy bats .212 away from Coors and he only throws out 20% of batters. Castillo wants four years, but the Mets don't want to give it to him. That doesn't mean they can't negotiate down to 3 years. Plus, Gotay looks like he can play. And yes, they do need new blood to spark things, I was just stating my opinion on they don't really need anything if they play up to their talents.
