PLD a Nat? The Washington Mets?

It seems official - the Blue Jays and Paul Lo Duca couldn't put a contract together, so PLD has now signed a one-year deal with the Washington Nationals. Once this contract is signed, that means that both Nats' catchers were once Mets property, as holdover Jesus Flores was lost in the Rule V draft to the Nats in 2006, much to our chagrin. We are happy for PLD, whom we hoped would be with us this season, and GM Jim Bowden makes yet another surprising move in a career laden with them. Manny Acta, Lastings Milledge, Jesus Flores and Paul Lo Duca vs. Brian Schneider, Ryan Church, Moises Alou (Expo), Orlando Hernandez (Expo) and Endy Chavez - a decent battle royale between ex-Mets and ex-Nats/Expos...

We wish you luck, PLD, except when playing the Mets!!!!

PLD needed 2 more seasons to become a "legendary" Mets catcher, alongside Grote, Stearns, Carter and Piazza...I'm sorry he won't be getting the time, as I knew, no matter what, if the chips were down and we needed him to work a count or reyes was on base and we needed to sacrifice an at-bat, PLD was the man to do it. All of a sudden, we hear he's not a great defensive catcher, yet for years' even prior to being with the Mets, and from all the time he was a Dodger (and I personally saw him catch over 40 games live at Dodger Stadium) all we heard was how pitchers liked to throw to him...and it's nice to have someone with character on the team that once thought players like McReynolds and Jeffries were the type to build around where we once had winners like Dykstra and Knight...oh well- good luck, Paulie!

Although i would have also loved to see Lo Duca back for another year, we can't saywe didn't see this one coming and now we are going tohave to look else where if the Mets want to keep and trade Estrada.

exactly what i was thinking john and david and jonathan, yes two more seasons would have qualified him to be on the stage of piazza and carter but i dont think he would ever have climbed that ladder
