Mets Rotation Ranking

Eddie D' Anna at Ya Gotta Believe writes about the Mets rotation and where they rank among the other NL teams:

The SportingNews.com today ranked the 16 starting rotations in the National League, with the Mets finishing ninth, one behind the Atlanta Braves and one ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Here's how author Gerry Fraley felt about a starting five of Pedro Martinez, John Maine, Oliver Perez, Orlando Hernandez and Mike Pelfrey:

"Martinez and Hernandez are nearing the end. Maine and Pelfrey are still learning. Perez can be very good or very bad. His frequent walks lull fielders to sleep."

Truth be told, if healthy, Petey should be able to replace Tom Glavine's 13 wins (but probably not his 200 innings), and I'm reasonably comfortable with the notion that John Maine and Oliver Perez are indeed for real. (Each learned a lot last year and are primed for another step forward.)
