Interesting Notes From Sunday Chicago Tribune

From Phil Rogers, of the Chicago Tribune, in his column "MLB Whispers: Around The League:

The Phillies and Mets could wind up in a bidding war for Kyle Lohse. He has remained unsigned because he insists on a five-year deal when three appears generous.
and...

The Braves aren't encouraged about signing Mark Teixeira to a contract that will keep him off the free-agent market. He would be awfully attractive to several teams, including the Yankees and Orioles, who view him as a hometown hero. …

What is most interesting about this article is the opportunity that exists for the Mets to go after both players- Lohse right now, Teixeira after the season. It makes sense for the Yanks to go after him, as Giambi's humongous contract runs out after '08, and it would make sense for the Braves to want to keep him, but they won't, and it also makes sense for the Mets' to go after him hard, as he's a Gold Glove caliber fielder, great hitter, and would be an amazing replacement for Delgado after this season.

Hey- we got Johan - ANYTHING is possible!!!!!
