Schneider Is In The House

David Lennon at On The Mets Beat writes about Brian Schneider arriving at Spring Training and the new catcher masks:

On the baseball front, Brian Schneider rolled in this morning, chatted for a few minutes and left to take BP with David Wright. Biggest revelation? Wilson is making the cathcher's helmets this year - not All-Star - and they look more like goalie masks. Complete with shock absorbers on the side of the metal cage. It also has a one-piece construction like a motorcycle helmet. No flames or dragons though. MLB has to approve the design.

Schneider has been studying video this winter to prepare for the new staff, but based on his familiarity with the NL, and especially the East, he believes he can be a huge help with Johan Santana's adjustment.
