Schneider Plays in AAA Game

As we are all aware, Mets' starting catcher, Brian Schneider, has been held out of the majority of Spring Training games due to hamstring problems. During today's telecast of the Mets- Nats game, SNY's Kevin Burkhardt was shown from the minor league fields covering the Mets-Nats AAA game, where Schneider started and, after a hit, was taken out of the game. The Mets announcers were concerned as to whether or not this would be a recurring injury for Schneider; Darling, however, stated that he thought that people's concerns are a bit over-done right now, as expectations that players need so many weeks of work to get ready for the season is a misnomer. Castro, they said, is behind Schneider in his progress, which wasn't great to hear, but Darling did say that Schneider's bat has been on fire, and that he is a true pro who knows what he needs to be ready for the season. Man, do I hope so...

UPDATE- Okay, Schneider wasn't catching today- he is hitting every inning, getting batting practice in, to get ready for the season. Makes sense...he has already hit a homer and a double, and the SNY audience saw him fly out and ground out in his 2 most recent at-bats...

UPDATE 2- Schneider ended up 2 for 4, with a walk, and assured Kevin B. that he could have played today, if necessary, and can go full bore but was told to take it easy today. He is supposed to play tomorrow, versus Cleveland, with a 2 hour bus ride. That would leave Moises Alou as the only regular not in the line-up, if today's batting order were to be used tomorrow, with Angel Pagan subbing today. Good news for a change!!
