Rain, Rain, Go Away...Mets vs. Braves Preview

UPDATE: Tonight's game was postponed due to a rainstorm. It will be made up on May 20th, as part of a doubleheader. Hopefully, tomorrow's game will be played, as the forecast is for even worse weather tomorrow all day...ugh!

...and let the Metsie's come and play...in Atlanta, John Maine vs. Tim Hudson, in the first of 3 games this weekend vs. the hated Braves. Rain is predicted this evening in Atlanta, up to a half inch, which is supposed to start right after game time (yeah, and they can predict that as much as writers can predict final standings, right?!) The Mets are 2-1, while the Braves are 1-3, having been pounded by the Pirates over the weekend. Last season, the teams split the series 9-9, and this year, in order to be the NL East leader, the Mets' will have to take this series and, hopefully, convincingly, for a change.

It's very early in the season, no doubt, but that doesn't mean that we can't be on pins and needles playing the Braves at ANY point in the season, especially in light of how well Maine looked in the spring. This could and should be a classic pitcher's duel...let's hope it stays that way, and we win somewhere around 2-0!! Also, let's hope that the Mets' didn't leave their bats in Miama, as we usually end up being cold after such a huge scoring outburst like Wednesday's...again, let's hope we buck some old trends early in the season!
