Santana Vs. Smoltz- THIS is What Baseball is All About!!

Seaver vs. Carlton! Hunter vs. Palmer! Those are the match-ups I grew up with, and looked forward to! Today's Mets-Braves game is reminiscent of those battles, as for the first time, we've got that "Ace" to match-up with against the Braves' John Smoltz in one Johan Santana!

Today's line-up for YOUR N.Y. Mets:

SS Jose Reyes
2B Luis Castillo
3B David Wright
CF Carlos Beltran
1B Carlos Delgado
RF Ryan Church
LF Angel Pagan
C Brian Schneider
SP Johan Santana

Santana is 1-0, having witnessed his opening victory vs. the Marlins, so he's coming off of the best start to an April in his career- let's pray he keeps it up! Smoltz is making his first start of the young season, having just come off the DL, replacing original starter, Tom Glavine, whose start has now been bumped. The Braves offense, as expected, has been on fire so far this year, scoring 37 runs in only 5 games.

I hate to say there's a "must-win" so early in the season...but this game qualifies on a lot of levels, as we need to set a good tone against the Braves especially in light of last nights' drubbing!

We'll be back after the game with some Sunday features- let's hope it will be a "happy recap!"
