The "Future" begins in Brooklyn
The Mets have placed a number of their recent draft picks with their low "A" ball team, the Brooklyn Cyclones.
From Adam Rubin's blog at the NY Daily News, "Surfing The Mets" -
Brooklyn’s season opens Tuesday against Staten Island at KeySpan Park. The roster includes shortstop Reese Havens (22nd overall pick in the ‘08 draft, University of South Carolina), righthander Brad Holt (33rd overall, UNC Wilmington), outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis (third round, Azusa Pacific), second baseman Josh Satin (sixth round, University of California), third baseman Eric Campbell (eighth round, Boston College) and righthander Brandon Moore (14th round, Indiana Wesleyan).
I am particularly interested to see how Havens and Holt do, and where Havens will play. I am betting he'll start at shortstop, but will see time at second and possibly catcher, while Holt will begin as a starter. Perhaps a double-play combo of Satin and Havens? Should be interesting, at the least!!
