Visa Troubles

There is only one player who has not reported to spring training at the Mets complex, he is in fact the most recent addition to the 40 man roster. No he's not disgruntled over who picked him up off of waivers, but is having visa problems. This maybe why the D-rays waived him in the first place, a struggling team can't afford to be one spot down with so many vacancies to fill. The Mets on the other hand have the best pen in baseball and can patiently wait until his Visa is approved.

Mets claim Carvajal

Matt Cerrone at Metsblog is reporting that the Mets have claimed Marcos Carvajal off waivers from the D-Rays.

According to the Tampa Tribune, the Mets have claimed 22–year-old RHP Marcos Carvajal off waivers from the Devil Rays. He was designated for assignent on Tuesday.

In 72 innings at Double-A last season, Cravajal had a 3.86 ERA, 69 strikeouts and 36 walks. In 2005, he made 39 relief appearances for Rockies, during which he posted a 3.78 ERA in Colorado and a 7.32 ERA on the road.

…from what i can gather, carvajal is known for having a live arm, a mid-to-high 90s fastball, a decent slider and a heilman-like change-up…

That explains Burgos being DFA last night. Carvajal is another young live arm with options, a 3.78ERA in Mile High Colorado is pretty good.
