Plans for Pelfrey?

Adam Rubin at The NY Daily News writes about Mike Pelfrey and the way the Mets are handling him:

Randolph expects Pelfrey will be back this year, in September if not sooner.

"I'm pretty sure he will," Randolph said about a Pelfrey return in '06. "I think this is a real positive thing for Pelfrey. The guy came up, just like (Lastings) Milledge did the first time around. We had an opportunity to give our young players a chance to experience big-league life and some competition.

"It was a win-win. The kid is right out of college. He came up and pitched well, gained some experience."

The Mets shifted ex-major league catcher Mike DiFelice from Binghamton to Norfolk to catch and mentor Pelfrey. Pelfrey may pitch Sunday for the Tides. Lefthander Oliver Perez is scheduled to start tomorrow for Norfolk, followed by Brian Bannister Saturday.
