Sanchez on his shoulder
Michael O'Keeffe at The NY Daily News writes about Dauner Sanchez and what he said about his shoulder:
"I called my mom and my girlfriend immediately," Sanchez told the Daily News from his room at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery. "I could see the bone on the top of the shoulder. I started to cry. I knew it was bad."
The injury was bad, but not as bad as Sanchez feared. The Mets righthander said he felt good yesterday, a day after he had arthroscopic surgery at the upper East Side hospital.
"Everything is good," said Sanchez, who seemed to be in good spirits but was still groggy from the surgery for the separated shoulder. "There's nothing bad in my shoulder. The ligaments and muscles are OK. I will pitch again, but it won't be this year."
The injury has sidelined Sanchez for the remainder of this season, but he said he began a rehabilitation program yesterday and hopes to be completely healed by early next year.
"I'll start throwing in December and I think I'll be ready for spring training," said Sanchez, who is scheduled to be released from the hospital today. "I'm going to take my time. I don't want to rush it."
