Sanchez's health
Matthew Cerrone at Metsblog writes about Dauner Sanchez and if he needs season ending surgery:
While speaking on a conference call, Mets GM Omar Minaya told reporters that it has yet to be determined whether RHP Duaner Sanchez will need surgery on his right shoulder, which was separated early Monday morning in a car accident leaving the airport in Miami…
…from what i can gather, they must wait for the swelling to go done, before being able to
determine just how much damage is done…
According to Minaya, if Sanchez needs surgery, which he pegs as a 50–50 chance, he will be out for the season – if he does not need surgery, the GM feels the pitcher can return to action, hopefully during September…
Sanchez was 5-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 49 games this season…
Though Minaya told reporters they will no whether he needs surgery in roughly a week, in Newsday, David Lennon cites Sanchez’s agent, Bean Stringfellow, as saying they could know as soon as today…
