You're (NOT) Hired!

In his excellent (as always) column in yesterday's NY Times, Murray Chass chronicles the lack of success that both Omar and Willie experienced previous to being hired by the Mets. In "Tales of the Two Who Got Away," Chass reveals that Omar & Willie, combined, were turned down 23 times before being hired by the Mets. We can only say THANK YOU to the Dodgers, Reds, Brewers, Mariners, et al, who passed on hiring Omar, and thanks to Omar for hiring Willie after everyone else passed, from the Rangers to the Brewers.
