Randolph's contract

Mark Hale at The New York Post, writes about Omar Minaya, Willie Randolph and his contract:

Mets GM Omar Minaya said yesterday the team plans to discuss a contract extension for Willie Randolph and the manager's coaching staff likely will return.

"I think it's fair to say that we would like to be able to sit down with [Randolph] and hopefully address his contract this winter rather than have him . . . not managing in the last year of his contract," Minaya said. "But we have to sit down with his agent and see how we can come to terms."

Randolph has one more year on his three-year, $1.875 million deal, which includes bonuses.
As for the coaches, Minaya said, "I'm going to sit down with Willie and talk about that. My understanding is that we are going to bring back our coaches, and we will sit down eventually and talk about contract and all those things."
