Valentin still a ghost at the plate
David Lennon at Newsday, writes about Jose Valentin and his o-for at the plate in the post season so far:
Jose Valentin went 0-for-3 last night and is 0-for-12 in the postseason, but the slumping second baseman still contributed defensively, and Randolph said he has no plans of replacing him in the starting lineup. In the ninth inning, Valentin made a nice stop of a grounder up the middle, finishing with a long throw, and then had a running catch in shallow right to end the game.
"In my mind, if I wasn't able to do one thing to help the team, I've got to do the other," Valentin said. "Defense can win games, too."
