Coat Drive

Chris Girandola at Mets.com, writes about the Coat Drive that went on at Shea Stadium:

On Thursday, Mr. Met greeted fans as they arrived at Shea Stadium to deliver coats. Close to 1,000 coats from 400 people were collected.

The trend continued on Friday as a continuous stream of fans brought coats throughout the day. By midday, more than 300 coats were delivered by more than 100 people, and Mets officials expected even more as the work day came to a close.

"This type of charitable event demonstrates the commitment and dedication by the Mets organization to stay involved with the community and the metropolitan area throughout the year, which includes the offseason," said Kimberly Patton, the Mets' assistant director of community outreach. "The Mets are proud to be a part of such a quality group like New York Cares and hope to keep this partnership on a yearly basis."
