Rickey's new role

Ken Davidoff at Newsday, writes about Rickey Henderson and the new role he might be asuming next season:

In other Mets news, the team is likely to bring back Rickey Henderson and might even expand his role. Last year, Henderson worked with the team on baserunning during spring training and spent about 10 days with the Mets shortly before the All-Star break. Henderson also could instruct the Mets' minor-leaguers in 2007.

"I want Rickey back next year," Minaya e-mailed. "I will talk to him."

Henderson had been a candidate for the Mets' coaching opening, but the team instead opted to promote Howard Johnson from its Triple-A staff.
