Who really is the better team?

So today I stumbled across a little article by Blair Lovern at the Pegasus News, entitled "Screw you New York Mets".

As this enraged me quite a bit, I am not about to jump into any hasty arguments without doing my research first to see who indeed is the better team right now and not 20 or 10 years ago. I will compare each position player agenst each other and give the edge to whoever is best in defense and offense.

First Base:

Mets: Carlos Delgado - Carlos had a .265 BA, 38 HR, 114 RBI, 0 SB and a Fielding percentage of .994.
Rangers: Mark Texteria - Mark had a .282 BA, 33 HR, 110 RBI, 2 SB and a fielding percentage of .997.
Edge: Rangers

Second Base:

Mets: Jose Valentin - Jose had a .271 BA, 18 HR, 62 RBI, 6 SB and a fielding percentage of .988.
Rangers: Ian Kinsler - Ian had a .286 BA, 14 HR, 55 RBI, 11SB and a fielding percentage of .973.
Edge: Mets

Short Stop:

Mets: Jose Reyes - Jose had a .300 BA, 19 HR, 81 RBI, 61 SB and a fielding percentage of .971.
Rangers: Michael Young - Michael had a .314 BA, 14 HR, 103 RBI, 7 SB and a fielding percentage of .981.
Edge: Mets

Third Base:

Mets: David Wright - David had a .311 BA, 26 HR, 116 RBI, 20 SB and a fielding percentage of .954 .
Rangers: Hank Blalock - Hank had a .266 BA, 16 HR, 89 RBI, 1 SB and a fielding percentage of .963.
Edge: Mets

Right Field:

Mets: Shawn Green - Shawn had a .277 BA, 15 HR, 56 RBI, 4 SB and a fielding percentage of .949.
Rangers: Nelson Cruz - Nelson had a .223 BA, 6 HR, 22 RBI, 1 SB and a fielding percentage of 1.000.
Edge: Mets

Center Field:

Mets: Carlos Beltran - Carlos had a .275 BA, 41 HR, 116 RBI, 18 SB, a fielding percentage of .995 and the 2006 Golden Glove.
Rangers: Kenny Lofton - Had a 301 BA, 3 HR, 41 RBI, 32 SB and a fielding percentage of .988.
Edge: Mets

Left Field:

Mets: Moises Alou - Moises had a .301 BA, 22 RBI, 74 RBI, 2 SB and a fielding percentage of .978.
Rangers: Brad Wilkerson - Brad had a .222 BA, 15 HR, 44 RBI, 3 SB and a fielding percentage of .993.
Edge: Mets

Catcher:

Mets: Paul Lo Duca - Paul had a .318 BA, 5 HR, 49 RBI, 3 SB and a fielding percentage of .987.
Rangers: Gerald Laird - Gerald had a .296 BA, 7 HR, 22 RBI, 3 SB and a fielding percentage of .986.
Edge: Mets

So if the season started today the Mets would have the better position players by a count of 7 to 1.
I really thought it was going to be alot closer than that. Oh well.
